Dan has experience of general sport and exercise medicine but in the last decade has concentrated on sporting trauma to the eye and face, becoming an international authority, publishing peer-reviewed papers and book chapters.

He is the match ophthalmologist for the Welsh Rugby Union.

Dan is a Council Member of the Faculty of Sport and Exercise Medicine (UK), here seen with other Council members and HRH the Princess Royal, Faculty Patron.

He was also part of the medical team for the 2014 Rugby World Cup treating players from all around the world.

Dan was part of the eye team that helped deliver medical care to the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow in 2014.

Treating elite athletes and keeping them safe in the field of play has knock-on effects of being able to provide enhanced care for other patients in the community.

Sadly eye injuries and facial lacerations are not uncommon in contact sports such as rugby and football and are routine in full contact sports such as boxing.

Dan regularly works for the British Board of Boxing Control and assists the Welsh Football Association Medical Team
